The next release of CBLite is nearing completion. It's a bunch of fixes and some feature requests that have trickled in. After a few game sessions, we noticed some things that we'd like to see so they've been added.Write Comment (11 comments)
The new 4.0 CrystalBall development continues! The backend classes have been put in to their proper order which will really help speed up development. The new table editor is well under way with a snazzy new interface which will make it much more natural. Combined with the new class setup, the table editor is destined for some really cool things like editing weapons, skills, items, etc inline. AND! the table editor will make an awesome way to edit data on the character sheet. Of course, it won't look like a table editor when sitting on the character sheet, but it's the basis for that functionality and will be very cool. Also new is The Cloud!Write Comment (10 comments)
Anyone got a good remedy for the Holidays Hangover? I'm not talking drinking, never touch the stuff myself. I'm talking about having worked only 1 day in 11, and 4 days out of 18. And now I'm feeling groggy, bored, exhausted, unhappy, headachey, bleary eyed, and, all in all, a poor employee.
The holidays were good to CBLite. The main set of scripting functions and programming is done. Some late additions are being added including some cool custom prompting functionality, exporting and importing single buttons for sharing with friends, and button event scripting! After January 6th, 2009 http://homepage.mac.com/crystalballmac and will no longer work!
It seems like forever ago when I introduced CrystalBall via my .Mac homepage years ago. It was a good solution for hosting CrystalBall for others to download. But things have changed over the years.
For one, the static HTML pages that made up the old http://homepage.mac.com/crystalballmac website were a pain to maintain. I used Dreaweaver to create and maintain the website. It has become too difficult and expensive to maintain a fresh copy of Dreamweaver. Editing the site HTML by hand was too painful.
In addition we didn't have a lot of money to include a message board, nor did .Mac offer any solutions for a message board on our .Mac site. We relied on free message boards which worked fine, but we could never integrate it into the site the way we wanted.
The next CBLite release features Scripting! Scripting allows total customization of CBLite rolling. Scripts can be called from rolls, run from a menu, and can even call other scripts and do rolls. Buttons will have events that trigger scripts. Also included is a library of CBLite methods allowing easy interaction with your buttons, tables, variables, and even User Prompting using a customized prompter!
