two strange quarks short of a graviton....

WWW
« on: March 03, 2010, 02:35:15 PM »

i thought i would make an appropriate topic for tracking my work on the FAQ and related stuff, rather than posting it over in the 'changing name' thread.  Grin

previously i had finished spell checking two of the documents.

i have now accomplished spell checking all of the documents. =D

next comes viewing them in dreamweaver and messing with it and the css document, if needed. i know that there is at least one major "error" where the first 5 or so links on one FAQ are actually halfway down the document, with the rest in the correct order as per the ToC.

one thing i would like to see is more examples. the coding examples are pretty well documented, but i feel a need for usage examples. i may need some help with that as i don't always get the usage from the code example. in this case, 'usage' means "where would i actually use this for something i might actually like to do". more on that later, if i do decide to do that.

Usage examples is a very cool idea. A usage example for each method would be awesome, but would take some work. I'll give you whatever help you want.

"act swiftly awesome pachyderm!"

i will be glad to receive help on this. please note the time lag between the first two documents completed, and the last two documents completed, and achieve harmony with the universe accordingly. having said that, i will be sporadically poking at this with something resembling activity over the next few months. =D

do you have a preference for which document i should start first? or should i upload the spellchecked ones for inclusion in an update? i was thinking of going through one document at a time and identifying the examples already given, the ones that need more clarification, and the ones that do not have a given type of example. opinions?

It would be easiest to post an update when it's all done.

excellent point.

hmmm, minor setback. somehow the spellchecked files are now reading as text instead of html....

text and html are the same thing, just different file endings. so if you didn't change the file ending, it probalby is just recognizing what program the file was last saved with.

oddly enough, even though the ending is .html, when i open it in a browser, it is displaying the code as text instead of as a page. not sure what i did to it. but apparently neooffice did something.

weird. if you can't figure it out, send me the file and i'll fix it. or get a fresh version of the faq and compare it with your edited one.

i may do both. i managed to have the foresight to edit copies of the files, rather than my originals. ^^ not sure what i, or neooffice, did to the file.
